Let's carry on with defening core terms and their meanings. Today we a really major one: Cybersecurity

NIST defines cybersecurity as protecting, preventing damage to and restoring electronic communications services and systems. This includes the information stored in these systems, which cybersecurity professionals work to protect.

Cybersecurity covers everything that has to do with electronic systems and communications. Within the field of cybersecurity are subcategories that entail further specialization. These include areas such as cloud, network, endpoint, and critical infrastructure security.[source]

What is cybersecurity all about?

A successful cybersecurity approach has multiple layers of protection spread across the computers, networks, programs, or data that one intends to keep safe. In an organization, the people, processes, and technology must all complement one another to create an effective defence from cyber-attacks. A unified threat management system can automate integrations across select Cisco Security products and accelerate key security operations functions: detection, investigation, and remediation. How is cybersecurity different from Information security?

In my previous post I talked more in depth about Information Security, but I believe it is once again good to point out similarities and differences of Cybersecurity and Information Security.

Confusion between information security and cybersecurity can occur since much of the information we want to store, protect and transmit exists in cyberspace. While cybersecurity is a part of information security, certain aspects of information security are not included within the realm of cybersecurity.

Information security is an overarching term for creating and maintaining systems and policies to protect any information—digital, physical or intellectual, not just data in cyberspace.

An information security expert may develop the means of data access by authorized individuals or establish security measures to keep information safe. Cybersecurity, on the other hand, focuses on protecting information from cyberattacks and threats such as ransomware and spyware. [source]

Conclusion

Cybersecurity is an umbrella term that covers many huge and complicates aspects of cyberspace. That is why I am so fascinated by vast depths of it. World is getting more and more digitals each day so there is high demand of cybersecurity professionals. The field's rapid growth makes cybersecurity education requirements more fluid than other job sectors. In general, entry-level positions require knowledge and skills students can acquire in bootcamps or community college settings. More advanced cybersecurity roles often call for a bachelor's degree or graduate education. [source]

I believe I have found my passion in cybersecurity, and I'll continue to improve myself and learning different aspects of it.

How do you feel about Cybersecurity and Information Security? Do you prefer one over other? Do you feel that these fields are in high demand and easy to get in to? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

P.S
I still struggle sometimes, is it: "Cyber Security" or "Cybersecurity"?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
