I am always on the lookout for good news sources covering all kinds of technology, but especially those that influence my own life. A former colleague recommended the 404 Media Podcast on Spotify, and I was hooked right from the start!

Let's start from the beginning by introducing 404 Media. On their website, 404media.co, they describe themselves as:

"404 Media is a journalist-founded digital media company exploring the ways technology is shaping—and is shaped by—our world.

We're focused on investigative reports, longform features, blogs, and scoops about topics including hacking, cybersecurity, cybercrime, sex, artificial intelligence, consumer rights, surveillance, privacy, and the democratization of the internet."

The founders of 404 Media—Samantha Cole, Jason Koebler, Joseph Cox, and Emanuel Maiberg—have impressive knowledge of technology and a great way of reporting on these often complex topics in informative and interesting way.

What I enjoy most about the 404 Media podcast and their articles is how perfectly the topics match my interests. Tech news often tends to lean toward product reviews or cater to different audiences, but 404 Media keeps the people at the center of its reporting. That’s why I find their stories so relevant to me. The 404 Media Podcast, in particular, stands out in my feed being a nice way to keep myself up date about events of the (digital)world. After flooding my podcast feeds with so many hacker stories, I find their journalism approach refreshing.

To make the most of 404 Media’s content, you’ll need to become a paid subscriber. However, there’s plenty of free content—such as the podcast and some articles—to help you decide whether 404 Media is worth supporting financially. If you take the time to explore their content, the decision becomes quite easy and there is plenty of free content to enjoy even without paid membership.

So, if you prefer journalism-driven coverage of technology, cybersecurity, and current events and want to stay informed during the summer holiday, I highly recommend checking out 404 Media.
